Funds Veterans Use for Long-Term Care Being Curtailed in 2017
Many Veterans and spouses of veterans receive a special monthly check if they need the “aid & attendance” of another person to live safely and/or need assistance with their personal care activities. Many Senior Communities help Veterans get these funds to help them pay their monthly rental fees which can be substantial. However the VA is changing the rules on how Veterans qualify to receive these funds and starting in April of 2017 the VA will only approve veterans or survivors of veterans who have less than $119,000 in total of allowable assets and the VA is imposing a three year look-back period for asset transfers.
