Sugar’s not so sweet side
According to a Forbes/Forbes woman article (august 2012 by Alice Walton) sugar has been a major player in the health and obesity issues facing our nation (as it continues to be today). In 1822 the average American consumed 20 pounds of sugar a year and in 2012 that number jumped to 130 pounds! Today according to the American Heart Association Men should not exceed 9 teaspoons a day of added sugar (sugars not naturally occurring in whole foods such as fruit, milk etic) and women should not exceed 6 teaspoons of added sugars.
